Cotton: Machine Wash
- It shrinks if washed at a high temperature.
- Use a color catcher if you’re going to wash different colored clothes in one wash
Ironing tips & techniques:
- Using a steam iron is always the best and the easiest.
- Use a medium-hot iron and always iron on the wrong side of cotton fabric.
- For extra protection, use a pressing cloth between the iron and the fabric. Extremely high temperatures when ironing can scorch cellulosic fibers. The scorching or yellowing occurs as the fibers begin to burn.
Linen: Hand Wash or Machine Wash (check wash instructions on the label)
- wash linen on low temperatures in lukewarm or cold water.
- Use the gentle machine cycle and a mild detergent to protect the fibres. Again, read Baani’s care instructions to be sure.
Ironing tips & techniques:
- Use a medium-hot iron on the steam setting.
- White linen is better ironed on both sides, whilst dark linen should be pressed only on the reverse side.
Silk: Hand Wash
- Place your silk garment in cold water with a mild detergent.
- Leave to soak (no more than 30 minutes).
- Swish the garment slowly and gently.
- Rinse with fresh water
- To help keep its hydrated feel, use a fabric conditioner in the final rinse
- Rinse well in cold water.
- Lay flat to dry
Ironing tips & techniques:
- Most wrinkles in silk can simply be steamed out.
- If you can’t steam the creases out then here are a few tips on how to safely iron your silk:
- Flip your garments inside out and set the iron to low heat .
- Iron silk only once it’s dry and be sure to put a cloth between the silk and the iron.
- Do not spray or wet silk while ironing, you may get water-stains.
Jersey: Machine Wash
- Turn the item inside out.
- Select the delicate cycle on the washing machine, and make sure the water temperature is cold and the spin is on low.

- To remove wrinkles, we recommend steaming for the best and safest finish.
- To iron, hover over the item using the steam setting, or press using the lowest temperature setting.
- Chiffon: Hand wash
Caring for chiffon depends on the type of fiber that comprises the fabric. Here is a general guide for how to wash your chiffon item, whether it’s made from synthetic or natural fiber.
- Silk chiffon needs to be dry cleaned.
- Polyester chiffon and nylon chiffon can be hand washed or washed in the washing machine on gentle.
- Use a mild, gentle detergent.
- Wash with cold water and soak for 30 minutes. Do not leave in the water for any longer because the dye will start to fade.
Do not wring. Chiffon can easily lose shape. - Lay flat. Don’t use clips as they can create marks on the fabric on the line.
- Don’t put in the sun. The fabric can fade so avoid direct sunlight.

To remove wrinkles, we recommend steaming for the best and safest finish. If you don’t have a steamer, you can use the iron by hovering over the item and using the steam setting.
